Meet Your Hosts
Artist and MSAA Art Showcase participant Hannah Garrison is a visual artist and nature lover from San Antonio, Texas. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the summer of 2017 and currently volunteers as a self-help group leader.
Hannah is an Artist-in-Residence for Hearts Need Art, a San Antonio-based nonprofit organization that works to bring the arts to patients facing life-altering health challenges. At present, she engages with patients/students via online platforms, utilizing the art supplies that her students already have available to them and creating accessible, patient-centered projects while also lending an ear to those who need one.
Also joining in the fun will be art enthusiast and docent tour guide from our 50th Anniversary Night at the Barnes Foundation — Joe Caliva, who will be providing commentary and facts about art while Hannah paints along with you. Joe is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area native and an interdisciplinary artist who credits music as his “gateway drug” through which his lifetime love of all the arts began. In addition to his Liberal Arts and Humanities interests, he enjoys regularly studying philosophy, languages, and science. Joe recently became a docent at The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia — adding another outlet through which he can share his passion for the arts.
