Improving Lives Benefit - 2019

Please join us for an inspiring and memorable evening, which includes a cocktail reception*, dinner, and auction, along with a program presentation where we will honor the accomplishments of MSAA champions in the MS community, while raising funds to support our free, vital programs and services. At this year's event, MSAA is proud to feature artwork from our talented Art Showcase artists, Elaine O'Rourke, Maria Sammartino, and Ryan Edmonds, who will be auctioning off some of their artwork.

Our 2019 Honorees:

Robert SternCorporate Honoree: Robert Stern, Founder and CEO of @Point of Care
A healthcare education, outcomes and technology innovator, Robert Stern founded Projects In Knowledge (PIK) in 1980 and @Point of Care in 2014. He pioneered the use of distance-learning medical technologies and continues to advance them today. Stern broke new ground in delivering timely continuing medical education (CME) and patient education in a variety of formats, enabling tailored education to meet unique learning styles. He implemented an aggressive outcomes measurement process to identify clinicians' knowledge of acquisition and retention, and to measure practice changes.

Due to Stern's vision and pursuit of excellence, in 2016 PIK was re-awarded a six-year ACCME (Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education) reaccreditation with commendation—the highest rating. He also guided the company's successful applications to the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and American Academy of Nursing.

Mr. Stern founded MedPage Today, a pioneering provider of real-time 24/7 breaking medical news; was President of CMEinfo.com, a producer of board review courses for physicians; and was a founder of FingerTip Formulary, a website for physicians to determine formulary drug status for health plans.

Tammy QuasiusMission Honoree: Tammy Quasius, MS Community Advocate
Tammy Quasius has been living with multiple sclerosis (MS) for more than 16 years and has been actively involved in raising funds and awareness in the fight against MS. She currently serves on the leadership committee for MSAA’s Women of Action Luncheon & Fashion Show, has been a voice for the MS community through numerous advocacy efforts, and has participated in many volunteer initiatives, including several MS bike challenges.

Ms. Quasius is committed to helping inform and educate others about MS, serving as a patient representative for events at health fairs and corporate events. She has been featured in an MS segment on EveryDay Health and in a training video for MS clinicians. As a member of an MS Community Engagement Committee, she seeks out opportunities to serve and represent people living with MS in their local communities. Currently, Ms. Quasius proudly serves on the NARCRMS (North American Registry for Care and Research in Multiple Sclerosis) Patient Advisory Board. Ms. Quasius is a tireless MS activist, advocating for policies affecting the MS population on all levels of government.
